Inspired by the mix of cultures, the T-shirt Belly dancer by ballad is a clear reference of the golden age of the belly dancers in the Arab world modernized by the famous Hollywood blockbuster Dirty Dancing!
Vintage-inspired cross-stitching and intricate gold embroidery give life to quirky English and Arabic phrases that will bring joy to locals and expats alike in Hafsa Lodi's T-shirt capsule collection for O'de Rose. In addition to bold text, expect to find kitschy motifs, pastel floral and subtle sporty touches in the designs. These T-shirts will appeal to clients who enjoy a bit of antique inspiration alongside some tongue-in-cheek humor and references to life in the Middle East. Whether you're looking for a statement T-shirt for yourself or for a unique gift to send a loved one back home, you're sure to find something that will strike a chord or bring a smile to your face.
As an illustrator, I love the idea to express my creativity with freedom and humor on a white canvas like a tee-shirt! With the Parisian Betty Divine, my not-so-fictional character, I have always been wanderlust of new experiences.
White t-shirts could not stay uncharted territories and I thank O’de Rose for giving me the opportunity to be closer to your heart.
Tamara Halabi – CityGirl
I have always been fascinated by colors shapes and textures and have been painting since childhood. My artworks reflect the simple yet beautiful aspects that make up our world. For me painting is a haven, a serene escape where the process of creating is really more important than the end result. Born in Lebanon, I grew up here in Dubai and I lived in both Beirut and Chicago. I have been painting for as long as I can remember. Even though I majored in political science and public administration at university, art has always been my passion and in 2002 I decided to turn painting into a full time profession.
My work is very diverse and its simply because I enjoy experimenting and trying out new techniques and mediums. I’m really inspired by everything around me especially nature and my main focus is on creating volume and texture to bring my canvas to life! I also enjoy painting cityscapes and I’m fascinated by the places I visit. I like to take these cities and recreate them in an abstract way through my own lens using pastels and charcoal.
In 2015 I decided to launch my new brand CityGirl. It is an accessories brand that focuses on everything hand painted and inspired by nature. I started by painting on straw hats and beach bags, and t-shirt patches all my pieces are hand painted and really just as unique as the nature they are inspired by!
While the end product of two professions can be similar, they perform different tasks. As an interior designer, I transfer living and work spaces into aesthetically pleasing areas .As an artist; I like to capture the beauty in mundane objects & places.
Different mediums allow me to express different ideas. The beauty of a painting is that it adds life and color to your home. Therefore, I was very much inspired by ' Pablo Picasso' whose paintings depicted faces, portraits, women and I wanted to transcend that on the t-shirts. It is not a t-shirt it is a painting.
